A Little While Longer | Mother’s Day 22 Update

Feeling Desmond’s lips on mine, I smiled, willing myself to open my eyes. I’d been awake for a few minutes now and knowing that I wasn’t alone, I was ready to get out of bed and enjoy what remained of the day.

“Hi,” I said.

“How’d you sleep?”

“I think a little too well.”

“You needed the rest, though. And you asked for it.”

He knew of the worry in the back of my mind and was quick in reassuring me before the thoughts could surface. It was Mother’s Day, and all I selfishly asked for was a clean house and a few extra hours of sleep. Despite me having tried to mask the request as a joke, Desmond knew I was serious and did as he always did in getting it done for me.

From the time I first woke up this morning, until now, I didn’t have to lift a finger and I had to admit it felt nice. I loved him and Jules more than anything but at times it did get overwhelming working, taking care of home and as of lately, attending night school so I could earn my masters degree. Not to say Desmond didn’t help because he did, but I struggled to fully let go of the need to be in control of everything.

“You deserve peace and rest without guilt. Not just today either. Whenever you need it.”

I nodded, sitting myself up so I could kiss him. “I love you.”

“I love you too.”

“What did you and Jules do all day? Other than sneak presents in?”

He grinned, using a hand to stroke my thigh. Throughout the day, I’d wake up to grab something to eat or drink and each time, there was a different gift waiting on me. There was a new purse with a wallet to match, a watch and a card that Jules made for me at daycare that included his hand prints as well as his baby scribble, wishing me a happy Mother’s Day.

“We hung around the house for a bit. I took him out in the backyard. Gave him a bath and just got him down for a nap not too long ago.”

Desmond’s lips trailed down my neck as his hands went up my shirt, squeezing my breasts. I quivered from his touch, glancing at the baby monitor on the nightstand before I allowed myself to fully enjoy the pleasure to come. Seeing that it was indeed on, I was able to relax and closed my eyes as Desmond slid my panties off, flinging them on the floor.

“You must’ve been thinking about me, huh?” He asked once my legs were open.

With reddening cheeks, I nodded. The remnants remained from the wet dream I’d had and he licked his lips at the sight. Desmond’s head disappeared between my legs, kissing and biting the inside of my thighs before his tongue was on my clit. My teeth sank into my bottom lip as his tongue lowered, lapping up my juices. Between his thumb now massaging my swollen clit and his tongue slinking in and out out of my leaking center, I was cumming hard enough that I felt my body levitate off the bed. As always, Desmond was sure that he didn’t leave a drop behind as he licked between my fleshy folds.

“Wow,” I panted, struggling to catch my breath.

I braced myself, eagerly anticipating what was next but when he stood up, heading towards the bathroom I was confused.

“Wait. What are you doing?”

There was worry in my eyes and bewilderment across my face as I looked at him. He laughed at the expression, returning to me long enough to kiss my forehead.

“It’s plenty of time for that. I promise. I’m just gonna get your bath ready so we can get to dinner soon.”

I was tempted to tell him forget dinner and get back in bed but knowing the effort he’d put into making the day special I nodded my head. Once he was in the bathroom, I was putting my panties back on as well as a pair of shorts so that I could check on Jules. The closer I got, the louder his snores were and I smiled from the sound. The sounds were resemblant of a grizzly bear and I was always amused that it was coming from my son. I stared at him in his crib, watching him sleep without a worry in the world.

Memories filled my mind of the pregnancy test that I took and how I cried when the two lines showed up. It felt like the end for me when it was really just the beginning. Now, here I was with an amazing son who’s laughter was the best thing I’d ever heard and who’s smile was the most joyous thing I’d ever seen.

I wasn’t sure how much timed passed when Desmond snuck up on me. He kissed the back of my neck before letting me know the bath was ready. After placing a kiss on Jules’s cheek, I was leaving with Desmond. The lights were dimmed, candles lit and the tub was being filled with water.

“I thought you’d want to do the honors,” he said, placing a bath bomb in my hand.

It was so simple, but one of the things I did for myself whenever I called myself having some me time.

“I found somebody to make this one just for you. It’s lavender, green tea and mint. So, you’ll smell good, feel good and your skin will be all soft and supple.”

“Ooh, that sounds perfect. Thank you. For everything.”

I tossed the bath bomb into the water, undressing myself as it fizzled and dissolved. Desmond watched on, turning off the running water once the tub was full. I didn’t think much of him still lingering around the bathroom. Not until he stuck his hand in the water, mixing it around. With a raised brow, I looked at him.

“Just making sure it’s not too hot.”

He grabbed a towel to wipe his hands, kissed my lips and left me alone. I slid into the water, inhaling the various scents as I began to relax with my eyes closed. It was a combination I would’ve never thought to use but smelled amazing. I was so unwound that I was disappointed by the time the water began cooling off.

I opened my eyes to see that while the water maintained it’s light purple hue from the bath bomb, most of the bubbles had began to melt. That’s when I noticed one that wasn’t like the others. It looked like a water pocket and my face twisted up, wondering what it was and where it came from.

“What the hell,” I muttered.

Only when it began floating towards me did I realize something was inside. My eyes widened taking notice of the sparkle it had and just like that I wasn’t grossed out or confused.

As if he were in the room with me, I called out his name, hardly above a whisper.

“Desmond!”

He still didn’t answer and I couldn’t wait a second longer. I picked up the bubble, using the nail on my pinky finger to pop it open. My eyes widened as I admired the princess cut, engagement ring.

My mouth opened, ready to again call out to him but not but air came out. With a trembling hand I was able to get the ring on it’s appropriate finger, smiling from the way it perfectly fit.

“I take it your answer is yes?”

Desmond asked, entering the bathroom. His hands were slipped into his pockets as he looked at me waiting on an answer to the obvious.

“I don’t know,” I shrugged. “You didn’t ask me anything.”

He smiled, getting on bended knee once he was in front of the tub.

“Will you marry me?”

I nodded my head, pulling him in for a hug. “Yes. A thousand times, yes! I’ll marry you.”

Realizing that I was getting his clothing wet, I went to let him go, but Desmond stopped me, holding me a little tighter. I couldn’t have asked for a better day or man to spend it with. My heart swelled, thinking about our future together, raising Jules and any other kids that might come along and celebrating more holidays and milestones together.

“I don’t know how you’re going to top yourself next year,” I joked.

“Don’t worry about that. You know I always come through.”

Truer words had never been spoken. No matter what it was, how big or small, Desmond did come through and I couldn’t wait to continue experiencing life with him.
